The Part Where I Talk About Myself

Dale Miller is a Canadian singer, actor, writer and storyteller whose career has spanned more than three decades of professional performance. A versatile lyric baritone with a background in musical theatre, jazz, choral music and cabaret, Dale brings a combination of musicality, theatricality and genuine connection to his work.

A graduate of Acadia University, Dale holds Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education degrees, with a focus on voice. His musical training provided the foundation for a career that has taken him from the concert stage and theatre to cruise ships, special events and live entertainment.

As an actor, Dale has worked extensively in theatre and has been recognized for his work with a Dora Award. His performance style is grounded in strong vocal technique and theatrical storytelling, with an emphasis on character, humour and the relationship between performer and audience.

Music remains at the heart of Dale's work. His repertoire ranges from the great songs of musical theatre and the American songbook to jazz standards, contemporary material and original work. He is particularly drawn to songs that have something to say, whether that means a beautifully crafted ballad, a comic character piece or a familiar standard approached from a new perspective.

Dale is also a writer and storyteller. His writing reflects the same qualities that shape his performances: curiosity, humour, observation and an interest in the people and stories behind the moment. He has a particular fondness for finding the unexpected angle, the human detail or the joke hiding in plain sight.

He is a member of Broadsway, a live musical ensemble combining vocal performance, theatricality and humour. The group brings together three distinctive performers to create shows that move comfortably between sophisticated musical performance and the kind of irreverence that keeps an audience engaged.

Selected credits include Marius in Les Misérables (1000 Islands Playhouse), Smudge in Forever Plaid (Stage West Calgary), Evita (MTC/Theatre Calgary), Bobby in Cabaret, Skimbleshanks in Cats (Neptune Theatre), Drake in Annie, Seussical the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Centipede in James and the Giant Peach (Young People’s Theatre), Brom Broeck in Knickerbocker Holiday (Toronto Operetta Theatre), and Henry in Living With Henry, which premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. He has also performed with the Canadian Opera Company and appeared on television in Designated Survivor, The Expanse, Reign, Dark Matter, and Canadian Idol.

Whether performing a classic song, inhabiting a character, telling a story or simply finding the right moment to make an audience laugh, Dale brings a lifetime of experience to the stage, along with a genuine love of performing.

Dale lives with his partner, Tyler, in Whitby, Ontario.
